Nutrition and Food science

Nutrition is the science that interprets the interaction of nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of an organism. It includes food intake, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism and excretion.

Food science is the applied science devoted to the study of food.  Food Science defines food science in simpler terms as the application of basic sciences and engineering to study the physical, chemical, and biochemical nature of foods and the principles of food processing.
